With the creation of facebook, twitter, myspace, and the rest internet marketers have been attempting to tap into this immense traffic. If you have seen the thousands of promo profiles where an internet marketer sets up a profile on a social network for the sole purpose of marketing a product, service, or website then you know these attempts are quite pathetic and extremely spammy. On the other hand if you run into a profile that is on a real person and you notice that they have 50k or more friends you can also appreciate the strength behind a successful networking campaign. There are some differences between these two different types of marketing one will lead to millions and becoming well respected while the other becomes despised and usually removed by their network. This article will focus on becoming successful rather than spamming.
First and foremost I believe that it is possible to make money online with social networking. The first and most important point when on social networks is to provide content and participate in discussions. Do not be the one walking into a discussion about SEO screaming hey you can buy Viagra from me. This will not get you anywhere and will help you become quickly banned from the network. On the other hand if you walk into the discussion and talk about SEO with the other people involved there is a good chance that you will grow your network and make a few friends. Twitter is a good example of this if you are tweeting to yourself about your own products then it will be a waste. Networking is about finding people with similar interests and connecting if you want to discuss your product then search out twitter to find others who have similar interests. Once you have made a connection with someone in your niche there are many different cross promotional activities that can open up. The first and my favorite is guest posting, if the person you meet has a blog make sure to visit and make comments then when your relationship grows close ask to guest post.
Now money is a constant with quite a few people online and there is money to be made with networking. First you should have a blog or web page that has products or affiliate programs something that will make you money when traffic comes to the page. Networking is great for sending the traffic to your blog or web page after an update. For example when I post to my internet marketing blog after publishing I always go to twitter and tweet about the new post. The traffic comes directly from my social network to my web presence then the traffic clicks on products or affiliate programs which makes me money. This has made me money for the past year and continues to increase as my network increases. The two most important things I have learned while on social networks if first not to spam and second make sure and provide actual content whether original or through participation.

Webmasters throughout the webmaster communities consistently rely on three factors when marketing their websites online these three factors are backlinks, content, and time. It is true that with these three if done correctly a webmasters ability to make money online greatly increases, but when a newer webmaster hits the scene they will probably not be sure how to do these three. I remember my first year or so as a webmaster I attempted to pump out as many articles as possible for the backlinks and figured time would come on its own. This was not the right way to go you must be willing to actually work on your content making sure each and every article is the best that it can possibly be. If you do this then each and every article will bring in links on their own rather than you having to submit them to hundreds of article directories.
The problem with this is it will not happen overnight. Even college graduates cannot come online and become an instant success it takes work. First and foremost you must build a writing style something that separates you from the millions around you. Style is not writing like a text book and really trying to connect with your readers. It will be something you should enjoy implementing into your writing making it fun. If you are having fun writing then when people read your work they will easily be able to see that you have passion and enjoy what you write about. On the other hand if you are paid to write and are not able to choose the subjects you write about that will be portrayed within your writing. You must find the topic that you have true deep passion about and begin writing. The more you write the better you will get at it. Using word processing is also very important to catch grammer and spelling errors even after college I still use Microsoft Word for all of my articles.
The last elements of writing online that I would like to bring up are the most boring, but thought of by most the most important. The first is SEO when writing which can be an annoyance. It is best if you search online for a basic tutorial. The second element I would like to discuss is filling an online niche gap. What is meant by this is you do not want to spend all your time writing articles that have already been written a thousand times over. It would probably not be a good idea to write on a historical topic unless you have new information or a completely different way of looking at the historical event. You should also be trying to come up with completely new ideas when writing not worrying about if you are wrong or right attempt to break into something new within your niche. If you do end up writing something that is wrong it is perfectly fine to retract what your wrote and apologize explaining why you were wrong. One good tip to avoid making mistakes when writing is to do your research this will help prevent most errors.

This is one of the most crucial steps when webmasters are trying to increase traffic or make money online is making sure not to overuse the same form of marketing over and over. This article will go over many different types and styles of internet marketing making sure that after using one form you will have many more in your arsenal. One thing is certain when marketing online and that is there is no one perfect way to run an internet marketing campaign you must find what works for your website and use it. You should also be willing to explore and use other different forms of internet marketing which you may not be as comfortable with. A good example of this is a SEO (search engine optimization) expert who decided to further develop their traffic generation and customer base by moving into social marketing. Now learning either SEO or SMO (social marketing optimization) will take a decent amount of time usually around 6 months just to get the hang of it, but after you begin understanding the different forms of marketing gaining traffic and income from your websites will become much easier.
The first step of increasing the scope of your internet marketing is knowing about the different forms of marketing available to the average person. First and foremost I would like to say you can accomplish the same as any major company online. In fact the majority of major keywords is not taken over by big companies, but single people who have marketed their websites correctly. You can without any money put your website on top of Google for major keywords. A couple good cases is walmart.com and ford.com who have a page rank of seven. This is possible on a much smaller scale one good example of a blog that has risen past these major billion dollar companies is seomoz.com a small team of developers and seo experts brought a blog from a page rank of zero to a page rank of eight. SEO is a major way of marketing and when done correctly it can bring you hundreds to thousands of visitors daily. This will be one of the most important techniques you can learn. Google and other major search engines are vital in any marketing campaign and when you are beginning a website learning how to optimize for these major search engines using webmaster forums such as the v7n community as well as seo blogs such as seomoz is important.
A few other marketing techniques you should know include social marketing which is using websites such as twitter, facebook, and digg for traffic generation and overall branding. Video marketing has also become one of the fastest growing forms of internet marketing. Anyone with a twenty dollar web cam is able to post a video on one of the biggest websites on the web (you tube). If you become well liked by the millions of people visiting you tube it is possible to make video creation your full time job. Learning how to build a brand and make it viral can also be a very helpful step when trying to make money online free. If people know your brand and share it with others then your website will become viral and traffic will be the least of your worries. Building a brand is much easier said than done so take plenty of time to learn everything you can about branding. Offline marketing is my least favorite, but as you see commercials for walmart and bill boards for your local grocery store it still has some advantages. The two biggest ways to market offline that seem realistic for a sole webmaster would be creating business cards and putting up fliers. Personally though I believe that the biggest focus for any internet marketer should be SEO learning how to place their website on top of Google for the keywords that fit their website best.

This article is for those who are wanting to make money online by gaining traffic to their websites with pure online marketing methods. To begin the strategies discussed in this article you should already have a web presence even if it is a simple blogger blog or squidoo lense. This will of course not encompass every aspect of internet marketing, but lay the foundation for the majority of successful internet marketing campaigns. One of the biggest factors in any internet marketing campaign is the ability for the person conducting the campaign to seek and find new information on internet marketing and the use of the new information in the marketing campaign.
To begin lets define internet marketing which is the method of online business owners to increase traffic/people to their web presence through online tactics. There are several of these tactics and the biggest ones are SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Social Marketing, and Branding. These are the three main sources of traffic online and should be the main components of your internet marketing campaign. The first is the most important for most internet marketers. Search Engine Optimization is harnessing the traffic which search engines draw in. If you work to master this technique you will be able from the creation of your website to get the attention of Google and other major search engines which could possibly lead to thousands of people visiting your website a day.
Social Marketing is a much newer form of internet marketing and one that is becoming much more used throughout the online world. This leads to some problems for major social networks such as twitter and facebook because of the amount of spam, but if you are tactful when marketing on these platforms you can gain a viral marketing effect which is people sharing your website with their friends across these networks. Social Marketing also includes social bookmarking which are communities dedicated to finding the best places for news or interesting topics. The great thing about these social bookmarking websites is they allow anyone to submit a website which opens the door for webmasters and bloggers to submit their own website and begin getting some traffic.
Branding on the other hand should be an overall factor of all your web presences. This is becoming known and liked around the web. You must first stick out from the millions of websites and create your website to become easy to remember. Some of the different was to build your brand include making your website URL and Title short and easy to remember so if someone wants to recall your website they can type it into Google or their address bar and bring it up easily. Another important branding factor is making sure that you have something that no one else has or you do something better than everyone else. The point is if you want to be remembered you will need to do something different.

The creation of a website is almost magical, but can be sometimes disappointing when you notice that nobody is visiting your website. This is especially true when your hope is to make money online. Now this will not be the case for the webmaster who is willing to go across the web building links everywhere their URL is accepted. Now if you are a webmaster or soon to be webmaster it is important to have a plan when link building don’t go from forum to forum and blog to blog spamming this will not help you whatsoever, but if you are willing to spend the time necessary online building a reputation in the communities related to your niche then you will find a countless stream of links to your website from forums, blogs and other sources. Once your website has a foundation of a few thousand backlinks you can create content and as long as the content is unique and helpful it will be linked to by other webmasters, but you first need to get seen and ranked high in the search engines.
The best system I have used when trying to build links is The Free Traffic System it is also a great way to increase free web traffic. This is an article publishing system you write an article submit it into the system and gain 60 backlinks from thirty separate blogs. This is the same as guest posting, but guest posting on 30 different blogs. It is a great way to increase backlinks and traffic, but by no means the only way. Another foundational way of building backlinks is through article marketing. This is creating articles on your niche and submitting the article to top article directories both niche specific as well as general. Make sure to concentrate submissions on the article directories with the highest authority they will give you the most visitors and most help within the serps. You can also submit your website to directories, social bookmarking, and other interactive websites such as forums.
If you do not want to work every day all day on building links and internet marketing it is important that you gain an ability to create link bait. Link bait is content on the web whether in the form of a blog post, article, forum, blog, website, or any other forum of online content which is helpful, funny, unique, or useful enough that other webmasters link to you without being asked just because they think their visitors will find your web presence useful. This is one of the hardest things to do and should be the ultimate goal of every online producer. Now if you want to create link bait one of the easiest ways to do so is become a true authority within your niche if people respect what you say they will automatically link to you. Other ways would be putting out a story first which is quite difficult online since there are so many other news related websites out there. You can also create link bait by ranting or writing on a controversial topic such as religion, politics, or some other topic which people are passionate about.

Well anyone online working day and night trying to gain the first spot for whatever keywords they are working on will have some thought on this, but for this post I want to reach down into the basics of being a webmaster. What is you actual job? You are able to write for the world wide web actually put your voice out there where it could be potentially heard by millions. You have a unique ability which not everyone has. So what should we do as webmasters worry about building thousands of links or thousands of pages? Do we spam or only build links white hat. Do we create mass content not really putting forth effort or do we spend days on a single article making it the best that we possibly can? Well for me there is no black and white when it comes to my time I am constantly changing and searching trying to find newer ways to market my websites. This is one of the keys to my success the ability to adapt with the internet never putting all of my chips in only one marketing or content creation method.
Now it should be mentioned that the title of this post is a little misleading. I have heard over and over that content is king online which I guess is ok, but I know that backlinks drive search engine placement so it is fine to have an amazing blog, but if you have no backlinks you will not do well in the serps and not see the traffic you deserve. This is the key you need amazing content and thousands of backlinks pointing to the presence which has the content on it. Backlinks are just as important as the content you create they are one in the same. Content is the car backlinks the gas and cash the destination. If you have the car and gas you will reach the destination, but if you are missing one or the other then don’t expect to move very far.
Well you found the secret to internet marketing and now it is time to put together an amazing presence full of content then use article marketing, directory submission, and other marketing tactics to get the backlinks. Now as you go on making new content and creating backlinks you will quickly find the third component of any successful person online and that is love of the game. If you don’t absolutely love doing what you are doing you will give up quickly. There is a reason that 90+% of online businesses fail and the reason for this is people give up or get sick of doing the same thing over and over. They don’t have the same love as that first 100k visitors. This is something you will need to experience before you know whether or not you will make it online try making a ton of content and build a few thousand backlinks and if you enjoy it enough to do it a hundred times over then maybe you have what it takes to succeed online.

Social media and the Web 2.0 in general has exploded over the last few years bringing up a new media in which a website has the chance of going viral. This means the website will be shared across many different interactive websites by the users that find the website interesting making it much easier to make money online. The problem is the difficulty of telling what websites will go viral and how to make a website actually be this accepted across the web. Some examples that I have found on my search across the web is webmasters and bloggers with the largest social networks seem to have a more likely chance of having their website noticed by others. This makes sense if you have 100,000 followers and only 10% retweet or tweet at all that would be 10,000 tweets about your website. If on the other hand you only have 5,000 followers on twitter and 10% retweet or tweet about your website this is only 500 tweets about your website. The chances of the websites URL going viral and being mentioned by millions increases with the amount of followers/friends/network the person who is running the website has.
There are two other variables when trying to get a website to go viral. The first is how do we utilize and grow our social networks and friends on other online communities. This is simple yet as I spend time on social websites I notice few follow the actual rules of being online. The first and most important rule when using a web 2.0 website is never spam. There is no exception to the rule if you spam no one will listen, retweet, and more than likely you will find yourself un-followed or removed. Some tips I have learned while on social websites is shyness gets you nowhere and be sure to be respectful of others at all times. Nothing will get you hated by all more quickly than being rude for no reason. Another important tip when trying to grow you community is participation if you don’t participate then your name will not be seen or recognized by anyone if you participate all the time it will be seen by the majority of members throughout the community and you will see your friends, followers, and network grow.
The second important variable when trying to go viral is the website itself. If you run a website which has absolutely nothing interesting or unique why in the world would anyone want to share it with their friends? Well the short answer is they won’t and if you want to do well it will take an extreme amount of money or time. Now if you have a very unique helpful website which supplies a necessary need on the web you can expect as your website meets people’s needs they will want to share it with others. A good example of this is amazon.com they supplied books and a huge selection of books as they helped more and more people they exploded and everyone started using the website for their book needs. Twitter is another great example of a website the actually made communicating easier than email and like amazon exploded over a short period of time through pure word of mouth. If you are able to do this you will explode your free web traffic and find your website making you a ton of money.

Ok here is the deal I just switched over from internet explorer to chrome and one of the add ons for chrome is Chrome SEO which allows you to outline all no follow links on the page. Now why is this useful? If you want to know if a blog is do follow or no follow all you need to do is load the blog into chrome and have chrome seo outline the no follow links if the comments come up as no follow then the blog will not help you in the SERPs. I found out some interesting things by doing this the first is the blog problogger.net I thought had the no follow removed turns out to still contain the no follow attribute . Anyway what I want to do is keep a constant stream of posts which have blogs, squidoo pages, or other sources that allow you to comment or add your site and are do follow so they actually help you and your websites serps. Since I am going to be doing a constant stream of these posts you can expect to see short posts with a few links, but a constant stream of new links. I will be adding 2 or 3, also after I get completely comfortable with chrome I will do a complete review comparing internet explorer to chrome so far chrome is way out in front. Anyway on to the do follow blogs:
The Marketing Parent I checked and this blog actually has the no follow removed from their comments section. Now the deal with this one is they require a comment size of 170 characters and they review each comment for quality purpose. You can gain a good do follow keyword link if you actually take the time to write a good comment. This one should definitely be put in your favorites not many good blogs like this are out there. Anyway post a good comment with over 170 characters and get a do follow keyword back link.
After going through about 10 blogs that switched from do follow to know follow I found a PR 2 blog that has the no follow attribute removed. They allow keyword where the name goes remember the key to getting a good quality backlink from a do follow blog is to leave a good quality comment. Anyway for being Do Follow I give you a free backlink Jays Online Reviews you may not have a high PR yet, but people will list you for the sole reason of spreading link juice. Well there is two blogs that you should consider commenting on and will help you within the search engines. If they switch to do follow please leave a comment I will double check them and if they are no follow I will be sure to edit the post and remove their link.
If you guys are interested in making money visit Make Money Online and if you want to learn internet marketing I run a Internet Marketing Forum. Thanks for reading.

This I find is a subject not yet deciphered by the experts. I am writing this because after searching Google for “grey hat seo” there really is not much on the subject. I even looked through several forums and found very little on the “grey hat”. In this post I will attempt to answer the question of grey hat seo to the best of my abilities.
The first way to gain an understanding of grey hat seo is to know white and black hat seo. White hat seo is using ethical legitimate ways to increase SERPs position. Some of these include placing keywords within your title tag and once or twice throughout the content never sacrificing readability or the overall look for increasing keyword count. If you use white hat and I personally recommend only using white hat then you create content for visitors rather than search engines. This is how to separate yourself and become a powerhouse within your niche. On the other hand black hat seo is when your content and overall website is built for major search engines. Some black hat tactics include keyword spam (placing keywords over and over throughout your website not worrying about your visitor and only wanting to hit the top of Google), using internal linking to greatly increase your backlink count for a keyword (this is done by placing tons of links at the bottom of your page which point back to your home page and are the same color as your background so your visitors and not see all the links), cloaking keywords (you can do this by changing the color of your keywords to the same color as your background or by making headings the same size as your regular text by using css). These may work and I am sure there are many others the problem is when Google catches them you will drop greatly within the SERPs and in extreme cases your website will be banned.
Black hat seo is bad and will probably get you banned and white hat SEO is good and in the long run will provide the most benefit, but what about grey hat. Well grey hat is the marketing which is not really defined. Grey in definition is the mix of both white and black. This is pretty much using tactics not really used by the rest of webmasters or at least not well known throughout the webmaster community. Grey is doing things for both your search engine placement as well as for search engines. This is putting links in your content towards other pages you have control over whether on the same site or another website you own. Grey is starting a forum and placing links to your other websites within the main template so each and every post, category, tag, ect will give you another backlink to the websites you put on the forum (I have done this on this forum), it is putting keywords in the majority of your headings which I have done on this site, it is using such programs as The Free Traffic System which publishes an article you write on thirty different blogs and lets you place two links throughout the content. Some may consider this spam, but personally I put my best articles into this system and even though it will increase my backlink count and SERPs position it will also help the visitors reading the content on the blogs the article is published on.
Do you see what grey is? It is helping your visitors while at the same time helping your own website search position. This is a very sensitive subject and if you don’t have a good understanding of white and black hat SEO you should not even attempt grey hat. Stick with white hat until you know what will get you banned or detested throughout the webmaster communities. I will probably be updating this post as I learn more about the new and upcoming “grey hat seo” lets hear what you guys think of grey hat.

The niche which you choose for your website is important and the root URL should also be taken into consideration when attempting to SEO your website, but one over looked aspect of SEO that webmasters sometimes miss is utilizing SEO with their sub or inner pages. Each and every page including your root or index can be SEOd to become landing pages and if you spend the time building links they can rank in Google and other major search engines for their own keywords. If you spend the time on all of your site rather than just your main page then your sub pages can bring in more traffic than the main page of your website. You can truly dominate an entire niche by ranking sub pages for all the keywords and terms within the niche. This usually takes years to do, but if you work hard and stay with it for enough time then you can sit on top of Google for every keyword within your niche.
To begin you will need to decide on which niche you are going to attempt to dominate. Personally right now I am working in the “make money niche” so I will use keywords within this niche for examples. For my home page I decided to go with a big keyword one that has a couple hundred thousand searches monthly which is “make money online”. That is the keyword that I optimized my home page for and since I build the majority of my links towards the main page then as I build sub pages I make sure to optimize them for different keywords. For one of the pages I went with the keyword “get paid to take surveys” which I am ranked well for. It does not have nearly the same amount of traffic nor the same amount of competition. The reason why I choose the keywords is they were worth going after and once I made it to the front page I got a steady stream of traffic from the keywords.
If you want to rank a sub page well it will take more than a few thousand backlinks. You will need to optimize the meta title and description. Once you have the keyword in these two then you will also need to put the keyword in the headings and a few times throughout your content. You should do this with every page that will make a suitable landing page. A landing page is a sub or inner page that if someone were to come in from a search engine they would first know what the page is about and second be able to navigate from the page around the rest of the website. After you optimize the sub page (title, description, headings, and content) you will need to start building links towards the sub page. The links should have the keywords between the anchor text that you want to rank well for. Do this will all your sub pages making sure the keywords have a decent amount of search volume.
